Over the last 3 months, I’ve been working with a physio for some neck and back problems. The physio uses a technique called Connect Therapy to find the root cause driver of your pain. It’s quite fascinating as it turns out that my neck pain is coming from my foot.
The physio has been giving me exercises each week, which I do, but at the back of my mind I keep thinking “why can’t you just fix this, why do I have to do all this work, and why is this so slow?”
The reality is that I want the physio to give me a magic pill to make this pain go away
Are there areas in your life that you wish you could take a magic pill for and things would change?
We have become an on-demand culture. We like to have things delivered how and when we want them. Think about Netflix, Amazon delivery, Google or online exercise classes - we want our needs met at the touch of a button but when it comes to working on ourselves, it rarely works like that.
Unfortunately, there is no magic pill for pain, whether it is emotional or physical. There is often temporary relief but true healing comes from doing the work with consistency and that can take time - an answer most of us don’t want to hear.
The same is true for finding what makes us feel happy in life; what lights us up; what brings us meaning and what is our true purpose. This is unfolding that requires intentional practice and daily habits.
You can’t Google it.
Someone else can’t do it for you.
There isn’t a pill that will change your life in a sustainable way.
If you want to change your current reality, you need to be in the driver's seat of your life and be ready and willing to show up to practise every day (just like the physio is asking me to do).
To make a change, to find the answers, or to change the way you feel you need to:
- Start tiny - small consistent habits create the biggest change.
- Have a map and a strategy for change.
- Have support and accountability to keep you on your path.
There is no quick fix but there are exponential gains if you are ready and willing to follow these 3 steps and take tiny consistent intentional action.
Your biggest cheerleader,
Simone
