Raw Cacao Nest is a great recipe for Easter or can made at any time of the year. It is a great activity to do with kids.
The recipe is one I have adapted from a kids art and craft book….and have made it a bit healthier.
INGREDIENTS:
- 2/3 Cup of Raw Cacao
- 75g of shredded wheat (one sachet/packet)
- 3 Tablespoons of coconut oil (melted)
- 1/2 Cup of Maple Syrup or Rice Syrup
- Optional extra: 2 Tablespoons of shredded coconut
- Tinfoil or baking paper
PROCEDURE:
- Scrunch up the shredded wheat into a bowl (add coconut if using). Combine melted coconut oil, maple syrup and raw cacao and pour it over the shredded wheat.
- Line a medium sized bowl (like a dessert bowl) with tinfoil or baking paper (you should have enough mixture to make a small bowl as well).
- Press the cacao mixture around the side of the bowl until it forms a nest (make a second nest with the remaining mixture)
- Refrigerate for an hour or until next is completely set.
- Remove from the fridge and remove the nest from the bowl and foil/paper.
- Serve with Coconut Goji and Lime Bliss Balls (eggs)
- Store in the fridge
