Abundance. What is not to like about this word?
Abundance is when we live in a place of plenty, where there is more than enough of something or everything we desire. That might be love, money, a beautiful home, nourishing food, joy, connection, business success or living your purpose.
You might like to ask yourself – what is an area of my life that I would like to feel more abundant in right now?
The opposite of abundance is scarcity. This is when you experience a lack or not enough of something you desire. When we live in scarcity life can feel like a struggle, like we have to work hard for everything and even with all the effort, things don’t always come to fruition.
We all believe we want abundance and that we are ready to receive the plethora of goods that we desire; however, perhaps something is blocking that from coming through?
When we notice this block we often want to blame something outside of ourselves – we blame another person for not loving us enough; we blame our upbringing for not preparing us financially; we blame the competition; we blame our lack of education; we blame the market or we blame our kids for slowing us down – the list goes on.
Here is a truth bomb:
The single biggest thing blocking your abundance is YOU and the beliefs you are holding around abundant living.
On a conscious level, you want all of these beautiful things to show up in your life but on a subconscious level, there is often some form of scarcity in you that needs to be healed first.
Here are some subconscious beliefs I hear about why people aren’t living in full abundance:
- I don’t deserve it
- If I have a business or corporate success, I won’t be a good Mum (or Dad)
- If I have more, others will have less
- I don’t want to stand out
- I am not XYZ enough to receive this thing (smart enough, good enough, etc)
- I don’t want to give up my current lifestyle in order to have more
- If I earn more I will have less time for me
- I’m not loveable
Let me tell you a little secret:
Abundance actually starts from the inside, not from something we attain on the outside.
Abundance comes when you have cleared all of the stories, beliefs, and limits you have set on yourselves about what you deserve, about how it makes others feel and about what you believe you have to give up when you have abundance.
Have you heard stories about people winning millions in lotto and then losing all of it? I believe this is often caused by core beliefs around money or enoughness. Time and time again I have witnessed people sabotaging their own abundance, whether it is in love, money, with a career or friendships.
Here are a few things I do with my clients when working with abundance blocks:
- Firstly, get very clear on what you are wanting to attract in. Write it down very specifically.
- Write down any stories or beliefs around what might be stopping abundance flowing (you may want to work with a coach to help you see them).
- Challenge each one of these beliefs and find examples where this is not true
- Create affirmations around the things you want to attract in. These are positive, present statements that start with ‘I am’ for example ‘I am open to receiving financial abundance’ or ‘I am worthy of love and affection’. Repeat these as often as possible, this will start to rewire your neural pathways.
- Practice gratitude every day and observe how abundant you feel in your life. As Eckhart Tolle says: ‘acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance’.
