What I’m loving this week + NZ workshop

Hi there,

This week I thought I’d share with you some of the things I’m loving in my life right now. Due to our survival instinct, our brain is designed to look for threats and has a natural negativity bias.

For this reason, it is important for us to consciously find the positive, to look for the things we love, rather than the things we don’t and this is why gratitude is such a beneficial practice for training our mind to find the good in every day.

The book I’ve been loving
Mindset by Carol Dweck
Through her decades of research, Professor Carol Dweck has discovered that much of our success in life (academic, career, sporting, artistic etc) is based on the power of our mindset. Dweck has found that those with a growth mindset – i.e. those who believe their intelligence and abilities can change and evolve with effort are more likely to achieve and thrive compared to those with a fixed mindset. Those a fixed mindset believe you are born with your intelligence and abilities (the gift of genius). Those with a fixed mindset do everything possible to avoid failure in order to maintain their sense of being smart or skilled. Those with a growth mindset see failure as an opportunity to do better, to work smarter and to grow from each experience (good or bad)

Favourite article of the week
The 5 biggest regrets people have before dying
We don’t have to wait to the very end of our lives to address those things that we know we will regret. This article is a beautiful reminder of the things that are important in our lives – i.e. spending more time with loved ones, allowing yourself to be happy or pursuing your own dreams rather than what others expect you to do. For me, it is a reminder that we can start doing these things right now in our lives, as we never know when our time will be up. Read the article HERE.

App of the week
Insight Timer – 15,000 free mediations in one app. I often recommend this app to my coaching clients as there is a meditation for pretty much everything from manifesting to healing a broken heart. Check out the app HERE.

What I’ve been cooking this week
I’ve been digging out some of my recipes and have been making this yummy French Lentil Stew that I created when I was in Provence. I’m enjoying the South of France vibes here in New Zealand as we enjoy these glorious summer days.

What I’m loving learning
I am in the final phase of my epigenetic assessment training to be a personalised health coach. This is just the most fascinating area to learn about. The basic premise is that when it comes to your health there is no “one size fits all”. Every person has a unique genetic blueprint – once you understand your blueprint, you can understand the best food, exercise, sleep time, preventive medicine, the environment that your body will thrive on. I have a podcast coming on this and so much more to share!

What I’ve been loving the most
My beautiful hubby – married 7 years this past week here on our lovely Island. You can see a few pics HERE.

Quote of the week
Sometimes we make things so complicated, particularly when it comes to our life direction and purpose. Peel things back to the simplest of concepts. Ask yourself three simple questions:

  1. What makes my heart sing?
  2. What comes naturally to me?
  3. How would I love to serve others in the world?

I love this little reminder from Rumi (below)
